The spring can be held in this position for the next step, or a make-shift stopper can be inserted into the magazine body to keep the plunger from reengaging the butt plate. This will disengage the plunger that retains the magazine butt plate. Using a dental pick or similar tool, hook the magazine spring through the slot that runs the length of the magazine body, and compress the spring towards the follower. Once removed, pull the firing pin and spring out the rear of the slide.įiring Pin Removed (Firing Pin Shown Upside Down) Using a punch, drift out the roll pin that retains the firing pin. Note: This 2206TGT only uses one spring beneath the extractor, other models may use two.Įxtractor Pin Moved Halfway Out (Tools Shown) The extractor pin is not press fit, but it does need help to move it down out of the slide, use a small pair of tweezers or similar tool to grasp the shaft of the pin to assist it out the bottom of the slide. Push the extractor inwards just behind the extractor pin to disengage the extractor from the extractor pin. If fabricating a tool make sure it clears the muzzle.Ģ6: Using tool remove barrel nut and lock washerīarrel Nut Recesses Engaged (Butter Knife) Hammer Assembly, Hammer Spring, and Sear SpringĢ5: Purchase or fabricate tool for removing barrel nut The hammer assembly can be further disassembled by pushing out the pin that holds the hammer to the strut. This compresses the spring on the strut allowing the hammer assembly to be removed.Ģ3: Remove hammer pivot pin and magazine safetyĢ4: Lift out hammer assembly and sear spring Once the dental pick is engaged, the hammer can be allowed to move back forward. Move the hammer slightly rearwards until a dental pick can be inserted into a small hole at the bottom of the hammer strut. Push out the sear pin with a punch and remove the sear. Push out the magazine catch pin with a dental pick or toothpick and remove the magazine catch. Restrain the trigger so that it does not come off with the sideplate. Try to lift the sideplate equally, rocking it back and forth if necessary to get it to release from the frame. Remove the three screws that hold on the sideplate, then lift the sideplate from the frame.
Do not push the pin completely out of the frame. Using a punch, push the sear pin about a 1/8th of an inch so that it no longer is engaged in the sideplate. Remove the magazine.ġ5: Push sear pin out of out of sideplate Insert the magazine into the frame to disable the magazine safety, then restrain the hammer and pull the trigger, slowly release the hammer into the fired position.
Move the spring plate rearward until the larger hole aligns with the hammer pivot pin, then remove the spring plate. Using a punch, push the detent from its recess and rotate the spring plate so the detent is just above the frame. The slide stop spring is the only spring on the left hand lever assembly.Ī screwdriver can be used to either push or pull the C-clip (retaining ring) from the slide stop shaft. ***Custom tools may be used, but they increase the risk of damaging the barrel nut and/or muzzle crown (examples: socket ground down to only leave engagement teeth, wide screw driver with center ground out for muzzle clearance, back of butter knife with notch ground out for muzzle clearance, needle nose pliers, etc.) **An empty 22LR case can be used to restrain the recoil guide rod *These screws have a tendency to work lose and fall off
